Saturday Rugged Maniac and El Indio!

Saturday Beth had planned to do the Rugged Maniac 5k mud run. That involves going through icky mud, obstacles, barbed wire, fire, slippy slides and other "fun" stuff! Of course I went too. But no, this Buttfreckle didn't meet with mud at all. I hung out with Leslie's husband Doug, in my baggy in his sweatshirt pocket.

One of the obstacles in the background.
JWB and one of the shirts!
I look better with this I think!

Here is a link  Rugged Maniac 5k photos, taken by the local Gainesville newspaper, the Gainesville Sun. Beth isn't in any of them but gives a good idea of the obstacles and mud!

After the event, we all went to El Indio, a Mexican fast food restaurant. Beth ordered a soft taco, with rice and beans combo.
What do we have here?
Looks good but I don't think I'm going to try...

What could this be?
Looks like rice and beans! Perhaps I should taste....

We had an awesome time except Beth had issues with one obstacle, Leslie called the "slippy slide". One goes done this water thing, hits a bump then goes in water. Then it's go through some red/white bobby things (the best example is in the Gainesville Sun photos link). Beth hit the bump and went totally underwater. I missed this but heard she wasn't a happy camper. Forgot to mention it was a bit cold too! Not many photos today but check back again for my next adventure!

Friday with Erika's monsters

Hi there again! Trying to get caught up with some of my delayed adventures. On Friday, Beth had a golden opportunity for my next adventure. Remember when we had gone to the Dais to do laptop updates? Due to some scheduling she had to do them again Friday. She had one idea in mind but ended up visiting Erika and her monsters (same building but on the 3rd floor). Of course yours truly came along!

This is Erika's Christmas cactus that had a second blooming! It came from Beth's moms plant. I was impressed!
Erika went swimming with a dolphin and this is the dolphin's painting. No not done while they were swimming!
Her very healthy aloe vera plant!
I don't know what this monster is called, but he's very purple!

Her green monster and Cotton Candy (he was wrapped along with Captain Calamari while we were here).
Her watch dog. :)
No I did not kill the fish! But fish is low maintenance. ;)
A cool pyramid with stone inside. Not sure what it is.
Her reading glasses had cool colors - like me!
And I got to meet Animal from the Muppets!

A fun adventure and close by for me. Yes, this was the same Erika I did lunch with on Thursday. She was very kind to let us come visit and bother her monsters for a while. No they didn't eat me! Until my next adventure, JWB signing off!

Thursday lunch at the Warehouse with Erika!

Sorry so delayed with my Thursday's adventure post! A traveling Buttfreckle stays busy. But here we go! Thursday Beth had scheduled to eat lunch at the Warehouse restaurant in downtown Gainesville. She rarely eats out but since yours truly is here that has changed a bit. :)

Oooo what's this?

Let me taste a little of the lettuce!
 Boy howdy is this good!
 Indeed!
Not bad!
Making progress for a Buttfreckle!
Thought something was a bit weird. Beth didn't put the top on her black bean burger!
This was Erika's drink. It was half sweet tea and lemonade. Don't know what that's called.
She had a nice order of fries. I was wondering when I was going to get a taste.
This is going to take a while since Buttfreckles don't have hands!
We were here!
After lunch we took a stop by the Citizen's Co-op. Beth is a member but doesn't come that often. I will remind her. :)
Had to add a bit of color to Florida's infamous fruit!

Another fun adventure! I'm meeting so many nice people in my travels. Erika was very nice. She's been kind watching my cousin Freckle Cotton Candy and also Captain Calamari (he was in the EPD post) until the lady known as "Little Mamma" (Simone) stops by with her son Noah. Until my next entry, I sign off!

Tuesday evening UF Gators men's hoops with Cassandra!

Beth's coworker Cassandra invited yours truly to the UF Gators men's basketball game last night against Auburn. The Gators won 63-47! Before we went to the game, she took a few photos of me by Ben Hill Griffin stadium. Beth needs to get there soon so she can do her stadium workout (and take me of course)!

Here's me inside of Bull Gator. At least he's stone - not chance to close his mouth!
Bull Gator has his eye on me. :)
And a full length shot!
This is a plaque outside of the O'Connell Center (known as the O'Dome too).

I'm sitting getting ready to cheer!!! GO GATORS!!!!
See we were there!

Me again!

Had an awesome time with Cassandra. I've witnessed the O'Dome and UF men's hoops. I believe they are nationally ranked and are closing out their season shortly. Then onto the SEC tournament and I hope they do well. GO GATORS! This traveling Buttfreckle is a new fan. :)  Mamma B never knew when I was born some of my colors are a little of the Gator blue and orange!

Five Points of Life 5k walk and Flying Biscuit Cafe on Saturday

This was my biggest adventure yet! Beth has to limit the photos we post (I wanted to do them all) as there's so many. Beth walked with many of the folks from Alachua County Public Works department. Sally had told her last year that Ha was organizing and she should go too. Beth ran the 5k last year but didn't mind one bit walking. Here we go!

Before the 5k started.
I am here! Woo hoo! Let it begin. :)
At the starting line!!!
Off we go!

At the first water station.

This is called Lake Alice.
These are the UF bat houses. Beth said there's a big thing on Wednesday nights, right at dusk. She's seen it once and said 'boy did it stink!'
We're making progress!
Over half done! Wooo hoo!
A little more to go!
C'mon Beth!!!

Almost to the finish line! This Buttfreckle will be happy then!
I didn't get one of these but thought I needed a good 'remembrance' photo! Well done me!!!!
Framed by the finish balloon! Way to go me!

After the 5k there was an expo. Quite a few photo opportunities as you will see. That in itself was awesome!

The guy here worked for Merrill Lynch BUT was part of the 2006 championship team!
He was kind enough for me to look at his ring! I have no idea who he was but really made my day!
Don't forget to donate life! I liked this mailbox. :)
This is Girls on the Run. Beth said this is a great program where they have pre-teen girls practice running building up to a 5k. She ran it last year and one is scheduled in April!
I was framed! But good idea to be an organ donor. The lady at the booth was kind enough to help. :)
Even Buttfreckles promote clean teeth.
We went to the Flying Biscuit Cafe next.
This was Beth's breakfast after the 5k. She ordered the "High Flyer".

As you see, we had leftovers! Some for me later - woo hoo!

What a fun day, good company, great cause, awesome expo and great food. This was my biggest adventure yet! However lots of excitement and fun made for a tired traveling Buttfreckle. Until my next adventure - I sign off!
