Locks and Ladder

Today we headded to a place called Ballard.  I heard Amy and Dan saying something about locks and ladders but I have no idea what that means.

We arrived at the locks!

Found this thing that Amy said ships tie up to but I think it is a buttfreckle hiding place since I fit in here perfectly.  There was room for a few more buttfreckles in the other holes too.

We found this great sculpture, it hat the perfect place for me to sit for a picture.  I love how the metal curves.  I could have sat here all day but we needed to see the ladder.
This is a fish ladder.  Didn't know fish could climb a ladder.

We went inside to the viewing area and we saw slamon climbing the fish ladder.  Dan explained that the fish ladder was made so the fish could get from Puget Sound to Lake Washington after the locks were built since the locks block passage between the lake and sound.

There were lots of people looking at the fish in the ladder, there is even someon counting the number of fish that pass through.

This is one of the locks, it was built because the height of the water in Puget Sound is different than the water in Lake Washington.  Boats go in one of the locks and the water level is raised or lowered so the boats can go on their way.

As we were leaving a flock of birds flew over just as the sun was setting.  The weather here has been nice, I thought it was suppose to be rainy in Seattle.
